Nebraska’s foremost authority on high school sports and recruiting, Mike Sautter, will join Hurrdat on December 5, 2022.  Sautter’s hiring comes on the heels of Hurrdat’s hiring of Damon Benning and the expansion of its radio programming to morning drivetime in recent weeks.

To make this possible, Nebraska companies Striv and Hurrdat reached an agreement for Hurrdat to acquire NebPreps.com while forming a partnership that allows Hurrdat to provide instruction and educational resources for Striv’s programs.

Mike Sautter brings a decade of experience and relationships from covering high school sports and recruiting in Nebraska for NebPreps, the Omaha World Herald, and as the founder of NebraskaHSSports, LLC. In 2020, Mike and Taylor Siebert partnered to power NebPreps.com, whose mission was “Celebrating the Story Differently”, and their following has grown substantially in the last two years.

Hurrdat, founded in 2010, is the parent company of Hurrdat Media, Hail Varsity, and Hurrdat Sports. Hail Varsity was launched in 2012 with a focus specifically on University of Nebraska athletics. Hurrdat Media was formed in 2020 when it acquired podcast and video production company Parkville Media. Hurrdat Sports was launched in 2022 to allow for broader local sports storytelling, including the reporting and content created by Hail Varsity, which will continue to focus solely on Husker athletics under the direction of Managing Editor Brandon Vogel. In addition to Benning, Sautter joins Andrew Rogers, Ana Bellinghausen, Sausha Durkan, Shane Schillerberg, and more on the Hurrdat Sports team.

“Mike Sautter has long been known as the go-to resource for preps and recruiting news in the State of Nebraska,” said Bill Hipsher, President of Hurrdat.  “This isn’t the first time we’ve taken a run at finding a way to bring Mike over to our team. Until recently, we lacked the perfect landing place for Mike, his talents, and his stories. With the launch of Hurrdat Sports this year, it was much easier to find a great fit for both Mike and Hurrdat.”

In the immediate future, Hurrdat will operate NebPreps.com and all social media followings in much the same way Siebert and Sautter have operated it over the last two years.

“We’re thrilled for Mike and this new opportunity. Our mission at Striv is to empower 1,000 educators through the influence of digital media education. Partnering with Hurrdat allows us to take our educational training and resources to the next level for teachers and students,” said Taylor Siebert, CEO of Striv.

Chris Gorman, SVP at Hurrdat Media, shared, “I met Taylor almost a decade ago and have always admired his passion for cultivating media experiences for Nebraska youth. It’s an honor to join him and combine his programs with what Hurrdat practices daily.”
