Hurrdat Sports Radio Transitions to Digital Platform

Hurrdat Sports is making a bold move to meet the needs of its audience by transitioning its daily radio programming to a fully digital platform. Starting February 17, 2025, the Hurrdat Sports Radio Show will broadcast digitally under its new name, “Hurrdat Sports Live.” Hurrdat Sports Live will shift exclusively to digital streaming, with an all-new format debuting on March 10, 2025. This change allows the team to deliver uninterrupted, high-quality sports talk tailored for today’s digital audience.

Longtime hosts Damon Benning and Ravi Lulla, along with producer Shane Schillerberg, will continue to lead the daily show throughout the transition and as part of the new format. The new digital product will feature expanded coverage and enhanced programming designed for sports fans who demand flexibility and authenticity. Later this year there will also be a move to a new studio custom-built for Hurrdat’s daily programming.

“For nearly ten years, we’ve utilized radio to build a loyal audience of sports fans across Nebraska and beyond. This move reflects our commitment to providing the best experience for our listeners,” said Bill Hipsher, owner of Hurrdat Sports. “This was an easy decision based on the data. More than 90% of our listeners already consume our content through their favorite digital platforms. When listening digitally, our audience consumes over 70% of every show, but for radio segments, the average listener tunes in for approximately 15% of the show. This tells us our audience wants digital access and engages longer with the full show when it’s available, when they want it, and where they want it. The new format launching March 10 will allow us to eliminate traditional radio clocks and breaks, improving the overall consumption rate to align with what we see across other podcasts on our network.”

This transition addresses the evolving preferences of listeners. By eliminating the constraints of radio broadcasting, Hurrdat Sports Live will reduce the commercial interruptions that currently disrupt content, enabling deeper and more dynamic conversations. The show will continue to stream live on all social platforms.

“We’re excited to take this next step and bring our audience a better, more seamless way to enjoy sports talk,” said Ravi Lulla, host of Hurrdat Sports Live. “With fewer limitations, we’ll have more opportunities to connect with our listeners and deliver the content they’ve come to expect from us.”

This move is just the beginning. Over time, the platform will expand to include new voices and local programming, further cementing Hurrdat Sports as a leader in Nebraska sports media.
